On Sunday morning Boyne Nordic Walks welcomed Dawn and her Nordic walking group to Drogheda all the way from Preston, Lancashire, UK.

We gathered in Bolton Square(a favourite spot of mine!) where our two groups met, then down past The old Abbey, another historical gem of Drogheda, looking splendid, before heading to Dominic’s park for the warm-up exercises.

Guided by three Nordic walking instructors! We had all studied together in Wales. Dawn, Helen, Valerie, and myself. I was buzzing! We carried on at a more relaxed pace, just like our usual weekend walks.

Even our speedy fitness walkers slowed down and truly savored the experience.

Continuing alongside the River Boyne, we walked onto the boardwalk by the canal, boats, joggers everyone chatting. It felt so good 😊 Then came to the site of the Battle of the Boyne. A little history enjoyed here. We then enjoyed a gorgeous lunch at Oldbridge house before making our way back to Drogheda.

We caught swans flying, the sound of these, I personally had never seen this before, crazy beautiful! Egrets soaking up the sun, and a majestic Heron standing tall and proud.. (Of course, I had arranged for them all to make an appearance!)

Then our visitors headed back to Scholars where they are enjoying the warm hospitality of this charming Hotel. The beginning of a fantastic week with Boyne Nordic Walks & Nordic Walking with Dawn Preston.
